What are your areas of expertise?

My areas of expertise include working with adolescents, individuals, couples and families faced with a variety of interpersonal and intrapersonal challenges.

What is your main goal when working with a client?

My main goal in working with a client is to facilitate self-awareness which will, in turn, lead to the changes that he or she desires. I believe that knowing and accepting oneself leads to a healthier life holistically.

What is your approach and what methods do you employ?

I operate from a Narrative and Existential Orientation, meaning that I believe each person has their own story and that people are driven toward meaning in their lives. I employ methods that center around the client’s agenda, not the therapist’s, and use emotion to lead to the root of whatever the client is facing.

What age groups do you most often work with?

I work primarily with couples, parent-child relationships and adolescents. I also enjoy working with young adults.

Are you passive or active in the session? What can a client typically expect sessions to be like while working with you?

I may take a more active or passive role in the session depending on the needs of the client. Clients can expect warmth, gentleness and kindness from me as we journey together toward understanding and self-awareness.

What is your background and what are your credentials?

Prior to becoming a counselor, I worked as a teacher for 5 years and have worked with teens in a volunteer capacity for over 10 years.

What is the reason you decided to get into counseling?

I chose to go into counseling because it was fit for my personality, passions and gifts. I desire for people to be free from the chains that inhibit them from experiencing the best that life has to offer and believe that this is done most effectively through the therapeutic process.

Tell us about your education.

My undergraduate degree was from Florida Christian College, now Johnson University of Florida, in Christian Ministry with a Specialization in Counseling. I graduated cum laude in 2008. I am currently pursuing my Master of Science in Counselor Education at Palm Beach Atlantic University in both the Marriage and Family and Mental Health Tracks.
